Jazz

coordinated style in Jazz! We take a storytelling approach to this style, with mood, character development and technique, while keeping the movement tasteful, age-appropriate, unique and fun! Technique combines with the
academic infusion of Problem Solving while engaging in movement that contains sharp lines, fun jumps, turns, floor work, partnering and more throughout this technical style. LWDA choreography is learned, practiced and performed.
West Africa Dance
Explore the regions of Ghana, Senegal, Mali and more through
the immersive, fun and exciting cultural dances of West Africa!
We take a specific look at the technical styling of the dances of
Sunu, Lamba, Kuku and more. Technique combines with the
academic infusion of Critical thinking, while engaging in the
symmetrical and harmonious steps, rhythms and phrases.
LWDA choreography is learned, practiced and performed.
Ballet
Dive into the world of graceful leaps, turns and technical training in
Ballet! We ground our Dancers in foundational technique and
etiquette, while having fun and building camaraderie and confidence.
Technique combines with the academic infusion of Geometry while
engaging in the lines, angles and eloquent shapes performed
throughout this technical style. LWDA choreography is learned,
practiced and performed.
Modern/Contemporary
Create, and bring personal expression to life with both free form and technical training in Modern/Contemporary Dance! We explore technique from renowned Choreographers such as Paul Taylor, Lester Horton, Roberta Wolin-Tupas Ms. Leah Willis and more, as well as allow our dancers to find their expressive style through improvisation. Technique combines with the academic infusion of Language Arts while engaging in the energy, cadence, fluid movement and vibrant shapes performed throughout this technical style. Urbanity By LWDA
Jump, jam and fly with us through the smooth, exciting and
electrifying technical style of Urbanity by LWDA! Ms. Leah Willis
teaches a modest approach to what the world knows as Hip Hop, and
flips it both Ol’ School and New school, all at once; while keeping the
movement sharp, classy, refined, respectful and fun. Technique combines with the academic
infusion of Human Biology while engaging in the lively energy, blocking and staging, specific
organic movement and vibrant shapes performed throughout this technical style. LWDA
choreography is learned, practiced and performed.
Salsa
Travel with us to tropical islands as well as regions of the U.S., in our learning of Salsa! Building upon mature respect of one another, ladies’ and men’s styling technique as well as exciting rhythms of the islands, we create eclectic movement that moves the crowd! Technique combines with the academic infusion of Physical Education while engaging in movement that mimics the relaxing rolling of the sea, as well as positional changes, partnering, and more, throughout this technical style. LWDA choreography is learned, practiced and performed.
Tap
Become a living instrument, and beat your rhythm loud and strong in
Tap! Standing on the cultural, historical and pioneering movements
and technique of those who came before us and originated what is
known today as Tap Dance, we humbly and excitedly combine
syncopated rhythms with refined musical instrumentals to create never-
before-seen moving, audible artwork. Technique combines with the
academic infusion of Triangle Trigonometry while moving through
intricate blocking patterns, equations of groups moving and pausing, and working as one
chorus throughout this technical style. LWDA choreography is learned, practiced and
performed.
